Gérald Genta Design – Beta 21 Movement – Collector’s Piece

Offered here is a true horological milestone: the Rolex 5100, also known as the “Texano”, produced in 1970 in a highly limited run of just 1,000 pieces — and Rolex’s very first quartz-powered model.

The watch features the collaborative Beta 21 movement, developed by a Swiss consortium of elite brands including Rolex, Omega, and Patek Philippe — marking a bold shift into the quartz era.

But it’s the case design that truly elevates the Texano. The bold, architectural 18k yellow gold case with integrated bracelet is widely believed to have been designed by none other than Gérald Genta, the same creative mind behind the Royal Oak and Nautilus. With its daring geometry and futuristic proportions, the 5100 prefigured what would become signature Genta traits — making this one of the earliest and rarest expressions of his design language.

Originally offered to Rolex’s most exclusive clients, the Texano was the most expensive Rolex of its time — and today, it stands as a true collector’s grail, both for its design pedigree and its place in Rolex history.

Good condition, bracelet lenght about 18cm-18,5cm / polished and some wear here and there but still looks clean and fresh on the wrist. But we incorperated condition in the asking price. We can have it lasered and fully restored but we think it still good for few more years before that is needed. All of that in consideration this watch already packs more then half it's value just in gold (200gr)
